Why Do I Love You?

My heart smiles
when I think of you
My protective instincts
kick in and Lord
help anyone who hurts you
I crave you with a hunger
never satisfied
But most of all it's
because deep inside
past carnal needs
past passionate love
past myriad emotions
down where peaceful feelings reign
I know I want to be
with you even beyond death
where Heaven awaits
and life is eternal
